There is something about a yellow dress that makes me squeal! Yellow, particularly mustard is one of my favorite color especially on melanin skin tones. This beautiful set is from Rebdolls. I styled the look 3 ways for versatility!

Sneaker looks are all in this season. I styled the dress with an oversized black knit sweater, a wide belt, sneakers and a hat.

This look is more casual dress. This outfit transfer from a casual day out to a business casual Friday at the office.

In conversation with fellow bloggers at dinner, I was asked who were some of my favorite influencers to follow. Gess Pugh of Gessflyy.com was surprised when I mentioned her name at the top of my list! Anyone who follows Gess instantly connects with her infectious smile, authenticity and genuine love for style. Her name Gessflyy says it all! Gess is a gem!

I met Gess a little over 6 months ago at a blogger event in Atlanta. I was brand new to blogging and didn’t know a single soul. Honestly, I was a bit nervous because it can be hard to meet authentic people in this industry. When I met Gess my doubts faded instantly. We bonded over taking Instagram photos of each other. She took mine, I took hers! She even offered to take more if I didn’t like them. I knew then, this girl is pretty cool! We talked more that night, laughed a ton, followed each other on Instagram and the rest is history. Gess is my blogger babe I can talk to about anything -- from the highs and lows of blogging to personal life.

Gess and I have very similar lifestyles. We are both professional 9-5ers, sorority sisters and are building our personal brands in plus size fashion. Watching Gess reach her goal of walking in a Runway Show during New York Fashion Week, motivated me to push forward to pursue major goals I have set for myself. I was literally shouting with joy as she strutted down the runway. Oh and my sister can walk! Through our conversations, Gess has motivated me to put my fears aside to share adverse experiences that can ultimately help other women.

I am looking to continue to grow my brand through helping the everyday woman elevate her personal style professionally and socially. My goal is to grow my online presence and eventually transition into television media. Gess desires to grow her brand in PR and fashion and I also see more modeling for her. She’s a natural!

Gess and I are super excited to partner with SEE ROSE GO to highlight their signature tee. I kid you not when I say it is the most comfortable tee I own! I featured the tee in my Must Have Fall Transition Basics Video! It’s SUPER soft, breathable, comfortable and can be styled a ton of different ways. I’m dying over Gess’ modern style approach, pairing the tee with a black vest, leather skirt and rocker booties while my look is a bit more classic. Gess is wearing the tee in grey heather and mine is in burgundy. I chose to style my tee with a black and white detailed skirt, black leather belt and suede booties. It’s a reliable tee I keep on repeat! I love to pair it with wide leg denim trousers and chocolate brown pants. This tee is a must have for every plus size woman! Purchasing this tee is a must and you can save 15% off of your purchase USING CODE RHONDA+SRG15.

The brand was started by two boss women who combined their years of global fashion industry experience to create a quality plus size brand! Gess and I want to recognize more besties supporting each other!

Who said big girls can’t’ wear prints?! That’s one of the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard!

Prints are expressive artwork stitched onto clothing. They provide an instant glow up especially on days when you’re feeling less than cute.

Leopard is a go to for me! When I saw the modern approach to leopard in this dress, I knew it was one I had to have.

rhonda peterson plus size blogger

5 Tips To Rocking Prints While Plus:

  1. Choose smaller designs - Prints that are smaller in design create a more elevated and sophisticated look. They tend to make the body appear long and lean versus large bulky prints.

  2. Mix in a solid color - Two piece printed suits are all the rage right now. However, pairing with a solid tank or cami underneath makes the look appear more put together and classic.

  3. Wear vibrant colors - Yep big girls can wear color too! Vibrant florals and animal prints (my fave!) instantly makes you feel awake, refreshed and youthful.

  4. Pair prints with neutral accessories - Bring in neutrals with accessories. Neutral tones compliment without taking away from the focal point, which is the outfit.

  5. Have fun! - Fashion is Fun! Seriously, stop taking it so serious!

As plus size women, it can sometimes be hard to embrace our sexiness. We have been told by society that being plus size is unattractive. Little do they know, some of the sexiest women I know (and admire) are plus size! We are financially solid, we have amazing careers, we have curves, I can go on and on.

In my new video, I am sharing my top 7 ways to feel sexy! Ultimately self love starts from the inside out. When we are confident in ourselves we can set our outer sexiness free.

By no means am I a huge body con dress wearer, but from time to time, I step out of my comfort zone and rock them. I tend to gravitate toward fit and flair dresses but decided to switch it up and show a lil bawdy! Also it looks super cute with my summer braids. As a plus size woman, body cons can be not so fun to wear but here are my top 4 necessities to rock them confidently.

1. CHOOSE A GOOD QUALITY DRESS: I go for dresses that are a bit thicker in quality because generally they have more support and your undergarments won't show through. If the material is too thin, it will lack support and may appear unflattering.

2: SUPPORTIVE UNDERGARMENTS: A good bra and body shaper is a must! I prefer to smooth out as many bumps and lumps as possible. Supportive undergarments give a lean more sleek sillouette.  My go to is typically a spanx. If you have any other body shaper suggestions, please comment below.

3. A GOOD HEEL: I love love a body con with a high heel. Wearing a heel makes the leg appear longer and gives a super sleek sexy appearance.

4. CONFIDENCE: Wearing a body con dress exposes all of your curves which the world needs to see. But in order to pull it off you have to believe that you look amazing in it. Confidence is KEY!

One of my favorite summer trends have been the blue and white stripe jumpsuit. Honestly anything blue and white stripes have been a favorite this season. It's a print that is classic, effortless and looks expensive! This casual jumpsuit, from Shein can be worn during the day with a cute flat or dressed up for night with heel or wedge. I paired mine with a white kimono and tan wedges from Torrid and a brown wicker purse (was a gift). Below I have linked this jumpsuit along with other styles that I love ALL UNDER 50!

This dress is an actual breath of fresh air! I just love an airy, flowy, feminine dress that wears effortlessly. I stumbled upon this cutsey piece on Torrid's website. When I first tried it on it was an instant hit. The off the shoulder sleeve adds a delicacy that elevates the dress from an easy daytime look with flats to date night sexiness. I tend to gravitate to tea length dresses because they scream grace and elegance. I'm definitely in my comfort zone with this one and loving it!

Crop top season is in full affect and they are my JAM!

I found one that even my most conservative girlfriend would feel confident wearing. I call this piece the Intro Crop Top because it provides coverage while still revealing a little skin. It's off the shoulder neckline is super sexy while the sash provides a feminine touch.  I picked up this beauty from Eloquii and I am obsessed! It's perfect for the girl who wants to stick a toe into the crop top trend because it has sleeves which provide coverage and is a relaxed fit. It's a transitional piece that can be worn casual or formal. I took a more casual approach pairing it with black and white stripe wide leg pants which are so in this season! Stripes are classic and goes with literally anything. The yellow shoes, red lip and big hoops glam it up a bit!

This dress makes me smile, ya'll!

The color is uber vibrant and gives me so much joy! It's crazy how a bright colored dress can literally transform your entire mood.

This gorgeous dress is from Torrid! I have been wearing this brand for years!!! Torrid is a brand whose high quality plus size clothing speak for itself. They were so gracious to send me this beautiful piece (along with others you see in later posts) that I am obsessed with. As you have seen in my last few posts, black was (and normally is) my color of choice. However, the bright sunshine, warm temps (It was 90 degrees when we shot these pics) and blue sky makes me want to wear color. The color yellow is beautiful and versatile on any skin tone, which I love!  As a tall plus girl, maxi dresses are essential to my wardrobe. It's covered up but still shows just enough skin for a little sex appeal. This dress is very lightweight, comfortable and breathable. In fact, you will see this baby on rotation all summer 18. I am wearing a size 2. If you follow me on Instagram , you will notice I have no shame in wearing a piece I love over and over again.

I styled the dress with oversize round sunnies, a red lip, a brown wicker bag with bamboo straps and black strap sandals. The sandals are also from Torrid.

Happy Summer!

It's officially bridal season and this little black dress (you can never have to many) is the perfect piece to slay at a wedding!

It accentuates the curves in all the right places which I'm showing off all Summer 18! Ruffles are one of my favorite trends because its classy, super feminine and flattering on all body types. This is one of the most comfortable affordable dresses I've ever worn and it looks expensive, right?! Only 23 bucks! One of my best girlfriends is getting married in July and I am totally wearing this dress to her wedding. Cocktail dresses are perfect whether you're attending a day or night time wedding and can be accessorized to fit your personal style.

Midi length dresses are my favorite. Their super comfortable and classy! I am wearing a size 2X. Its comfortable with just enough stretch. I am wearing my spanx shape wear to smooth out the lumps.

For this look I focused on the simplicity of the dress pairing it with a soft smokey eye, a glossy lip and neutral sparkle shoe. This effortless look is guaranteed to turn heads!

Slay girl! SLAY!

I love mixing high and low end fashion pieces. I prefer to splurge on outerwear, shoes and accessories because they get more wear. In this look, the two piece crop set is the affordable option from Shein at only $16 for the entire set! Crazy right! And surprisingly, the quality is pretty good. I consider the set trendy and I tend to spend less on trendy items because they only last through one season.

The duster is a splurge item from Torrid. It retails at $79. However, its a piece I can wear over and over again. Plus Torrid always has a good sale.

The black suede slides are from Nordstrom.

For the record, I am obsessed with wide leg pants! They are super chic, effortless and comfortable. I got these for $22 bucks at Forever 21! I am wearing a size 3X. After wearing them for a few hours, they stretched out a bit but were still flattering.  I love styling wide leg pants with a fitted top. It snatches the waist for a slim silhouette.

Summer denim is a thing! Much more lightweight than fall and winter denim. They are thinner and more breathable to wear during the hot summer months. During the summer I don't wear jeans often but when I do I prefer a softer, lightweight pair.

As a plus size woman, shopping for denim can be the most stressful experience! It's my least favorite piece to shop for. However over the years I've learned which brands to stick with because they always come through.

rhonda peterson

Here are my favorite brands to shop for summer denim. They never fail me.

1. Fashion Nova Curve -- Listen... Roll your eyes if you want too. Many people have mixed reviews about Fashion Nova Jeans. However, in my experience, they have never failed me. They contour perfectly to my body, lifts the booty and controls the belly (high waist pair). They have the right amount of stretch without loosing their shape and have belt hoops (because a belt is a must for me). I'm 5'9 and they are always the right length (wearing a dark denim pair in the photo). Overall, they are very comfortable, super light weight and can be worn for hours without being uncomfortable. They run small, so size up!

rhonda peterson

2. TORRID -- Torrid jeans speak for themselves and the low rise girlfriend jeans are my favorite. They are ripped just enough, cuffed perfectly at the ankle and gives a bad ass vibe to any outfit. The rips in the jeans allow air to penetrate the skin keeping me cool. I love to pair my ripped jeans with a t-shirt or button down. And they fit true to size. P.S. I ripped mine a little more :-)

3.  LANE BRYANT -- I'm sure you knew this one was a favorite. Lane Bryant Denim has been there for me since I was a teen. I love the quality and durability of their jeans. You can literally wear them for YEARS. At one point, I threw away a pair because I was sick of wearing them. They are super soft, breathable, lightweight and sometimes come in different colors. Although, pricey, they are definitely worth the coin!

4. Style & Company (Sold at Macy's) -- These jeans are just classic relaxed fit and super soft. Plus they are almost always on sale! They are a more classic fit but can styled with a twist.

I initially went shopping at Lane Bryant to find a dress for Easter Sunday and came across this gorgeous ruffle top (and more)! For a while I had gotten a little bored with Lane Bryant, but to my surprise I was so happy to see new stuff that's both classic and youthful for Spring.

Ruffles scream effortless style!

It's an easy, comfortable, cool style that pairs easily with ripped denim jeans, wide or straight leg pants.

I went for an elevated sophisticated look pairing the top with wide leg black pants, bold hoop earrings and a slide in mule.

The top fits oversize. I am wearing a size 18/20.

Many plus size women are extremely self conscious about wearing their arms out. I was like that for many years but decided it was to hot to care. Although I may have overcome this fear, there are still tons of women who battle with this everyday. I have the same battle with these big legs of mine. I'm still a work in progress. Read my post here.

If you who are self conscious about wearing your arms out, here are examples of pairing sleeves that won't have you sweating bullets (because that's not cute or comfortable). These looks will keep you cool and on trend though out the warm months.

When I received this two piece set from Rue 107, I was in love! It's a two piece halter top with wide leg culotte pants. I am wearing a size 2X. Throughout the fall and winter seasons, I typically wear solid colors. However, it's something about the bright sunshine, blue sky and warm ATL temps that motivates me to wear patterns. Hence, this wild pattern combination. Sometimes you just have to let it go, be bold and step out!

The kimono is a gift from God! It's light weight, transitional throughout all seasons and pairs well with just about anything. I grabbed this one from Torrid. It's blush pink color goes with just about anything. It's easy to wear, comfortable and gives just enough coverage but shows a little skin.

The white collar shirt screams sophistication! I love this look because it reminds me of being on vacation. It's an elevated look that can go from a lunch date to vacay. The tied shirt snatches the waist giving a more youthful, trendy look.

The head scarf is the final touch to the look. Although it doesn't match the pattern in the set, it does bring the look together giving it a more interesting, creative look.

I had the time of my life at Torrid's Spring Dress Event held in Atlanta Thursday night! The event was hosted by Mega Blogger, The Curvy Fashionista, Marie Denee at Atlanta's fab W Hotel in Midtown. We sipped on refreshing cocktails and munched on southern bites while previewing Torrid's new spring collection featuring floral galore! The whimsical patterns and bright colors immediately gave me crazy spring fever!

torrid spring dress event-4.jpg

As someone who generally gravitates towards a more neutral palette, to my surprise, I saw a few pieces that I had to have. I died over this cropped Moto Jacket with the floral print on the back. It screams sweet and bad ass at the same time (an accurate description of me)! It's the perfect pop to any outfit whether casual or formal.

Classic and trendy in polka dots paired with a red lip, cat eye sunnies and this moto jacket... It's a total retro chic vibe.

It was so refreshing to meet other bloggers and influencers based here in the South. I met girls from Alabama, South Carolina and right here in Atlanta! A few of them I already follow on Instagram and read their blogs. I finally got a chance to meet in person... So exciting!

I basically love anything blush! The detail on the back of this kimono makes it a stunna. It is simply perfect and comfortable. The fit runs a little oversize so size down. I'm wearing a 0/00X.

Thank you Torrid! It was a night I will never forget!

Can we have a moment of silence for this outfit?!

I love to make a statement with fashion and feel comfortable at the same time. It's totally possible!

As a plus size woman it's easy to fall into a style rut. To ease the frustration, I tap into mixing contrasting pieces. For example, I'll pair edgy and classic styles together (like the look I'm wearing).

When I laid eyes on this skirt from Lane Bryant I knew I wanted to style it differently from a traditional "pretty" look. The metallic color inspired me to create a 90's urban look with a chic vibe. I paired the skirt with an over size graphic crop sweater from the Gabrielle Union collection at New York & Company. Gabi's collection includes sizes up to XXL (I'm wearing a size XL)! The sweater is so comfortable and versatile because it has a drawstring to adjust the crop length.

The skirt is an easy wear that can be dressed up with heels or casual with a sneaker. I though the bamboo earrings and leather hat where great accessories to top off the look. It makes it more unique and fun. Cat eye sunglasses are hot this season and an interesting piece added to the look.

Don't be afraid to DO YOU through personal style... No matter how corky, edgy or weird it might look!

When I bought these faux leather leggings I had a few different looks in mind. I love how easy it is to style leggings especially when they are as fly as these. I decided to create one look that reflects my glam side and the other look that has a more masculine twist.

This was my first purchase from the brand Addition Elle. They are a Canadian based plus size fashion brand carrying sizes 12-26. The clothes are a mix of trendy and classic styles.
